I had to share some of our favorite moments from Jamaica, our boat cruise. We had wanted to take a sunset catamaran cruise but were a little too late to sign up and missed our opportunity. I have no idea how we got so lucky, but we somehow snagged a private boat cruise with 5 minutes warning. We grabbed all our things and headed to the beach where we boarded our private boat for 4 hours with a guide and driver.
We got to spend the afternoon taking a tour of Negril by boat and hearing about the capital of casual (the actual nickname of Negril, amazing). We saw all of the different resorts on 7 Mile Beach, toured the crazy houses on the coast, saw Rick’s Cafe and got a quick peek at the 300 year old lighthouse that’s still in working condition.
My favorite thing that we did was go snorkeling in a cove that pirates used to hide out from the British back when they would fight in the 1700’s. The water was crystal clear, our guide grabbed starfish and other little creatures so we could see them up close, and we got to see the landing and the set of stairs that took pirates from the water to up on top of the cliff . It was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.
Also one of the most disappointing since I didn’t have my GoPro with me! 🙁 It was on the verge of dying and I didn’t have the flotation attachment ready to go when we were going to jump in the water. So the best picture I have is of the area that we swam at. Still cool, but not as cool as the actual experience. I got great pictures of us snorkeling in the morning, but I forgot to bring my charger for it so it died before I got an opportunity to bring it with us.
On our way back to the hotel we fished off the boat, ate some snacks, drank some Red Stripes, and took in the beauty of Jamaica. It was such an amazing experience that I’ll never forget and I’m so happy that we had such an opportunity.
