I’m amazed it’s almost fall and back to school season. I did see some halloween decor out already though and thought I was going to have a heart attack, a little too early for that! It’s not too early, however, to start stocking up on layering pieces and some rich tones.
As I get older, I feel like the amount of new clothes I get each season gets fewer and fewer. Either I’m a lazier (definitely an option), or I just have picked up enough staples where I only need a little refresh to my wardrobe. I’m going to go with that one because it sounds way better. I’m not a very trendy person and lean towards more classic looks, so really great staple pieces are key in order to look put together.
Black Tote // This Longchamp bag is a classic, but you always need a tote for in the fall for road trip snacks and an extra pair of mittens.
Shirt Dress // This chambray option from Banana Republic is one I could wear every week. Shirt dresses are my favorite since it’s a put-together outfit in two seconds.
Khaki Blazer // Take a khaki blazer, a black & white striped shirt, and a great pair of jeans and you have a perfect, classic, simple outfit. Blazers are always tough to find for me considering I’m built like a 12 year old and they’re usually too big. I’ve been able to find some good ones at J.Crew and H&M, but I have to try them on in the store before I can commit.
Trench Coat // I’ve been on the look for one for a while and I think this one might be it. They’re a great transition piece from between summer and fall, and can be dressed up or down easily.
Simple Button Downs // I could have one of these in every color honestly, but the maroon is a staple for fall. You can layer it under a blazer, paired with a striped sweater, or with a cozy cardigan. I love the sleeveless options that are much easier for layering and that time of the year when temperatures fluctuate a lot.
Pleated Black Skirt // I love this skirt with a cozy sweater, it’s a great combination for fall and is a little different.
Striped Sweater // Is it acceptable to wear stripes everyday? Who cares, I do it anyway.
Jeans // This is the best time to buy jeans with all of the sales going on. I’ve fallen in love with these Gap skinny legging jeans, they fit perfectly and look classic, plus are at a really good price.
Black Loafers // I wear my black loafers seriously every other day. I couldn’t find the exact penny loafers I have from Nine West, but these tassels are too cute not to share.
All of these pieces could be mixed 100 different ways and will keep you cozy and classic until each and every leave falls.
What is your favorite fall staple?!
