Happy Monday everyone! This month I’m focusing all about spring cleaning, and there’s no better way to start that trend than with a #MondayMotivation all about organization. I don’t understand how people can function in messy situations. It’s just too much distraction for me and I instantly feel flustered and overwhelmed. For me, I need to know that everything has a place, and be able to physically hide all distractions and focus on what’s most important. A little type-A, but I make it work.
“When we clear the physical clutter from our lives, we literally make way for inspiration and ‘good, orderly direction’ to enter” – Julia Cameron
Right now, I’m trying to get our house organized and keep it that way. I’m usually like a tornado when I get home from work. You can literally see the war-path I took as I unloaded my coat, lunch box, and gym & work bags on my way in the door. Those little paths of destruction usually add up by the end of the week though and our house is destroyed (sorry Matt!).
This means that my Saturday morning is spent cleaning up the mess I made all week and getting annoyed with myself for being the cause of my own frustration, ugh. So this year, my goal is to set up systems and organization that keeps me organized every day, not just once a week (or month). Then I can use my free time on the weekends to focus on my blog, the etsy shop, or our rental property.
This month, as I try to focus on removing the clutter and chaos from my life, I hope you do the same! Here are a few areas that are always in need of a little attention if you need some inspiration to get started:
The Front Door // Where do things go when you walk in? Does everything have a place and what you need is always handy?
The Bathroom // Are your drawers organized? How long does it take you to find a bobby pin in the morning? What would make your morning routine easier every morning?
Your Car // Do you have too much junk? Do you have all the little things you need on the go: deodorant, bobby pins, scissors, pens, change? What could make your commute a little bit smoother?
Your Shoe Pile // What could you get rid of? What could you move to secondary storage? Where can you put your most-loved favorites?
These are a few of the areas that I’m going to put a little more thought into this month and I hope that you can take some time and do the same for yourself! Help yourself have your best month by keeping everything where it needs to be. That way, you can put your full attention on what’s most important.
Where do you struggle the most to stay organized?!
