Happy Monday Everyone!
This weekend I swear I spent like 40 hours watching the Olympics. I’ve been in love with all the great stories and historic events that have happened over the course of these few short weeks. Because of this slight obsession I had to include it in my Monday Motivation quotes, obviously!
Simone Biles is amazing. I love her story, growing up and having to work for everything she has now. Coming from a dad who walked out, a mother who was a drug addict, and growing up with her grandparents, things were never easy. Still she has stayed determined and become one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Even though she has carved out a name for herself, people still try to compare her to other people, saying she’s the so-and-so of gymnastics. This one simple quote from her summed up how she feels about that: “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I’m the first Simone Biles.”
People will always try to compare you to others, but you need to remember to stay an original. Don’t ever try and be a copy of something else, be original and unique in your own way. I just heard this on a podcast the other day too, but you never want to be the new version of a previous idea, you always want to have your own identifier.
Simone Biles is an amazing role model for all young women out there. She is talented, hard working, relentless, but such a positive person, always caring for her teammates, making friends, and constantly spreading smiles. Hopefully this week we can all become a little more like her. Maybe a little less flipping and spinning, but more determined, friendly, and motivated. I’m ready to take on this week like she does her floor routine, with grace, heart, and strength.
