Friday night was, in my opinion, the first night of officially spring. Well, at least in terms of being able to be outside and be active. I posted about the Zoo Brew being on my radar for summer a while back, imagining it being eons away. We had planned months ago to attend Zoo Brew, a beer tasting at the Detroit Zoo, and I was so shocked that it was already on the calendar this week – this year has just flown by.

It was the perfect weather for this event, too. I was nervous wearing my favorite t-shirt dress that it’d be chilly once the sun went down, but I felt perfectly comfortable all night long. Plus, I was able to go from work to beer drinking easily, I had my button-down shirt on during the day and then just tied it around my waist for night. Bam.

This is such a great event, we’ve gone a couple of times now and have yet to be disappointed. It operates about the same as a normal beer fest, where you get tasting tickets to try any of the local, Michigan craft beers, but there are animals involved, so it’s instantly a thousand times better.

We had a great time hanging out with friends and family and got to see almost all of the animals just as the sun was setting. It was a picturesque night and was a great way to start enjoying the warm weather as we head into May. I’m so happy that we were able to attend another amazing year of Zoo Brew at the Detroit Zoo – I’m sure we will be back again in the next year, and maybe again for the Wild Wine event this summer!

Hopefully you have a wonderful weekend spent outdoors, being productive and celebrating moms everywhere. Happy Saturday!
